OsteoPhase And Alkaline/Acid Balance For Osteoporosis

Thank you so very much for answering my query. I’m trying to make some intelligent decisions regarding the severe thinning of my bones.

My bone density test results were very worrisome. I’m at the high end of the scale. I’ve been on Fosamax for 5 years; then switched to Evista for 3 years now. That is no longer working so I will take the last few and then discontinue it.  The next drug they want me to try is the newest one – Forteo – which has to be self-injected daily and has disturbing side effects. I much prefer to continue my very healthy lifestyle and take herbal things if they will work.

That’s why discovering OsteoPhase on the web has piqued my interest.  I printed off the HSI article but am eager for more information. I shall cutback on my calcium as suggested by you and several other articles I’ve read.  Now I just need to find an alternative to the medications.

I’ll appreciate anything further you can send along.

Thanks again.

  1. Dear Eleanor,

I assume that your additions are from your actual DEXA scores. If so, I would definitely recommend the 2 capsules of OsteoPhase and 1 capsule of Herbal Boost, twice per day as the fastest way to halt loss in bone density and begin rebuilding healthy bone.

The losses indicated in comparison bone densities are rapid and have pushed your left femoral neck into a level of osteoporosis that is at much higher risk for fracture. Apart from a recommendation to take medications, have your doctors indicated why they think there was an increase in bone loss?

Again, 80 percent of fracture risk comes from falls, and 20 percent from porous bones, so be sure to keep your legs strong.

Protein is important for bone building and overlooked. Bone repair and growth is a balance of catabolic (tearing down) and anabolic (building up) processes. Lysine is an important amino acid but you need all of the amino acids for healthy anabolic activity.

A safe way to get good protein is with a high-quality protein powder. I don’t have a specific recommendation, but there are a lot of those available online or at health food stores.

You may also wish to look at your diet to help with alkaline/acid balance, as excess acidity reduces bone density. That is one reason why acidic soda drinks are so harmful to bones. See the attached recent research report (above). Sodium bicarbonate as mentioned in the article is just common baking soda. OsteoPhase does help push you towards the alkaline side, too, as part of its regulating benefits.

Finally, you may wish to try SleepCycle for one month – one bottle of sixty caps – you take 2 capsules before sleep each night.

Much of our anabolic building and repair activity take place at night during deep sleep, so your dramatic sleep loss could be a significant source of your bone loss and other health detriments.

    With regards,

    John Steinke, L.Ac.

P.S. I just looked at a box of baking soda in my kitchen and the label explains how it can be used as a low-cost antacid by dissolving in water.
